Founded in 1979, the Emerald Chapter of NPSO has a long history of active involvement in the study, education and
conservation of our region's native flora. We hold monthly programs with speakers from September through May,
and lead field trips all year long (see calendar on state NPSO
webpage). Our chapter area includes all of Lane County, which ranges from the Pacific Ocean on the west
to the crest of the Cascade Mountains on the east. Programs and field trips are free and open to the public.
Activities
- Monthly programs September to May with slide shows and exciting speakers. Meeting place: EWEB (Eugene Water
and Electric Board) Training Room, 500 Est 4th Ave, Eugene; usually the 3rd Monday of the month.
- Field trips to inspiring locations with expert leaders. For up to date meeting and field trip schedules,

- Our Rare and Endangered (R & E) Plant group keeps watch over our County's rare and endangered flora.
- Our proactive Conservation Committee members maintain oversight of projects that may threaten local plant communities.
- Emerald Chapter's Native Gardening Awareness Program (NGAP) seeks to promote native gardening and backyard habitat creation through education, outreach, and demonstration.
- We are responsible for collection and display of flowers for the annual Mt. Pisgah Arboretum Wildflower Festival
in May.
